Mission
Since its founding in 1982, the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) has grown into the nation's leading charity in the field of diet, physical activity and weight management as it relates to cancer prevention. It also offers a wide range of cancer prevention education programs. AICR funds research on the relationship of nutrition, physical activity and weight management to cancer risk, interprets the accumulated scientific literature in the field, and educates people about choices they can make to reduce their chances of developing cancer. To date, the Institute has committed more than $82 million for research related to diet and cancer. In addition, AICR has established a wide range of education programs to bring its message of cancer prevention to millions of Americans.
