Mission

Founded in 1884, the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) is the oldest and largest animal welfare agency in the state thanks to private supporters. KHS advocates the humane treatment of companion animals through leadership and proactive solutions to pet overpopulation, including adoptions, education and spay/neuter efforts. KHS has expanded its programs into dozens of counties to become the area's number one resource for pets and pet services. As Louisville's only private, non-profit animal agency that also is open admissions, choosing to accept all dogs and cats in need.
