Mission

Founded in 1986, Chicago Gateway Green is dedicated to the beautification of the Chicagoland area, benefiting the environment and improving the quality-of-life for millions of residents and annual visitors. Through the Expressway Partnership, an intensified adopt-a-highway program, we have planted hundreds of thousands of perennials, shrubs and trees along Chicago's expressways in a consistent and unified landscape design. The only such program in Illinois, the Expressway Partnership melds corporate and civic involvement to improve Chicago's quality of life. With the ongoing support of Mayor Richard M. Daley and Governor Rod R. Blagojevich, as well as scores of corporate sponsors, the Partnership has become the model of effective public/private partnership.
