Mission

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, founded in 1968, provides one-to-one mentoring services to children throughout Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, and parts of West Charlotte counties. Our mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships. We provide our mentoring services to an average of 1,275 children each year, with the help of over 950 qualified adult volunteers. Our children receive mentoring services through our community based program and Bigs In School site-based mentoring programs. On average, 200 children are waiting to be matched with a mentor.
