Mission

The American Friends of the Shalom Hartman Institute supports the Shalom Hartman Institute (SHI) in Jerusalem. Established in 1976, SHI is a pluralistic research and leadership training institute at the forefront of Jewish thought and education. SHI's campus houses an advanced research center, home to 50 leading scholars; a distinguished boys' high school with over 350 students; an in-house publications department; international theology and philosophy conferences; and centers for the training of educators, rabbis and lay leaders. SHI is structured around four centers: the Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, Center for Education, Center for Rabbinic Enrichment, and the Center for Lay Leadership Education.
