Mission

American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) was founded in 1968 to provide aid to Palestinians immediately following the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. Today, ANERA addresses the long-term economic and social needs of Palestinians, Lebanese and Jordanians, and also provides relief during emergencies. ANERA partners with local groups to create opportunity and hope in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan. ANERA's programs directly benefit more than one million people each year, and help local institutions become more self-sufficient and effective in serving their communities. Every project is planned in consultation with the communities that ultimately benefit—an approach that ensures relevancy and commitment, and secures the long-term viability of the projects.
