Mission
Northland College was officially established in 1906 - the offspring of an institutional ancestor, the North Wisconsin Academy, which was founded in 1892. Northland College combines a strong liberal arts curriculum with a focus on the environment. We believe that our relationship with the environment gives us the skills and courage necessary to act as responsible citizens in a globally interdependent world. Northland has 700 students from 38 states, the District of Columbia, and three countries. Northland College also runs the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute, which provides outreach and educational information to the Lake Superior region.
