Mission

Founded in 1957, AMREF (African Medical and Research Foundation) is the largest African health organization in the world, providing health care and training across the continent. Its mission is to improve people's health as a means for them to escape poverty. AMREF USA is one of twelve offices across North America and Europe that raise critically needed funds for AMREF's work. We seek to educate the American public about AMREF's vital and unique contributions to improving health in Africa, and work to forge partnerships with other organizations to ensure we are all working complementarily. Our priority intervention areas are HIV/AIDS, malaria, safe water and environmental sanitation, family health, clinical services, and training and health learning materials.
