Mission
The National Academy Foundation (NAF) was founded in 1982 by Sanford I. Weill, the corporate leader and philanthropist, to address the lack of opportunity for young people in New York City. NAF sustains a nation-wide network of career-themed academies that are organized as small learning communities. NAF's small school vision emphasizes academic excellence while preparing students to pursue professional careers in the corporate sector. Today there are more than 529 career Academies in 40 states and the District of Columbia. NAF's Academies include: Academy of Finance, Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, Academy of Information Technology, and Academy of Engineering.
