Mission

Founded in 1971, the Sedgwick County Zoo's mission is to inspire discovery, appreciation and respect for animals and nature. The Zoo has been recognized with national and international awards for its support of field conservation programs and successful breeding of rare and endangered species. The Zoo is the number one outdoor family tourist attraction in Kansas and is home to more than 2,500 animals of nearly 500 different species. In 2006, over 484,000 people visited the Sedgwick County Zoo.
