Mission

The National Japanese American Memorial Foundation (NJAMF) works to promote and educate the public, and support and maintain the National Japanese American Memorial. Dedicated on November 9, 2000, the Memorial honors the loyalty and courage of Japanese Americans during World War II and commemorates the heroism and sacrifice of Japanese Americans who fought and died for their country. Additionally, NJAMF sponsors an annual freedom walk during the National Cherry Blossom Festival; co-sponsors a Veterans Day program; supports Asian Pacific American programs at the Smithsonian Institution; and promotes the significance of the Memorial. NJAMF education programs include an annual awards dinner, lectures to K-12 classes, and seminars for Asian Pacific leaders and college students.
