Mission

American Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (AFTAM) is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 to raise funds for the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and to seek notable works of art for its collections. AFTAM hosts a year-round calendar of events, including gallery visits, art lectures, and private tours of art collections. The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is one of the most diverse and exciting cultural institutions in Israel, specializing in modern and contemporary art and home to the largest collection of Israeli art in the world. Since its founding in 1932, the Museum has served as the cultural center of Tel Aviv, offering its 500,000 visitors a year a vibrant mix of permanent collections and changing exhibitions, musical and educational programs, an Art Library, lectures, cinema and dance.
