Mission

Houston Audubon Society is one of the largest and most active chapters of the National Audubon Society. Our mission is to promote the conservation and appreciation of birds and wildlife habitat. In order to fulfill our mission we: provide over 3,000 acres of critically important habitat; sponsor education programs for adults and children, including meetings, field trips, seminars, classes and camps; sponsor Rare Bird Alerts and the Bird Counts; and watch out for the welfare of birds. Our headquarters is at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary in west Houston. Our other sanctuaries, Bolivar Flats and High Island are internationally famous for their importance to birds.
