Mission

The Heat and Warmth (THAW) Fund improves the quality of life in Michigan and prevents human suffering by providing low-income families with energy assistance during crisis and by advocating for long term solutions to energy issues that affect the poor. We accomplish this through strategic partnerships with utilities, community agencies, government and donors to marshal, leverage and coordinate resources on behalf of the community. THAW Fund's first assistance was distributed in the winter of 1986. Applications are taken at more than 100 community agencies serving as THAW screening sites in 70 counties across upper and lower Michigan.
