Mission

Genesis is an alternative charter school designed for inner city, middle school youth. Founded in 1975, Genesis serves youth needing academic and social development to successfully return to traditional public school. Certified teachers offer a MAP aligned curriculum, cultural/performing arts, computer instruction and radio production. Essential to student success, licensed mental health counselors provide assessment/evaluation, individual/family/group counseling and behavioral intervention/management. A Neighborhood Mentoring Program is in place to recruit, screen, and train adult mentors to work with high risk students to build self-esteem and positive values.
