Mission

Founded in 1981, the Aga Khan Foundation, USA (AKF USA) is part of the Aga Khan Foundation, which has branches and independent affiliates in fifteen countries. The AKF is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of eight institutions working in health, education, culture and rural and economic development. AKF seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous, coastal and other resource-poor areas. Our program priorities include education, rural development, health, civil society, with particular emphasis on community participation, gender, the environment, pluralism and human resource development.
