President & CEO's Report for July

July 1, 2009

I launched an Open Forum on Outcomes on my blog site a couple of weeks ago and have received many interesting comments on the subject. We plan to have our first expert write a piece on the site shortly. Please join in the conversation!

On another social media front, I now have over 1,000 followers on Twitter. You can join me there at http://twitter.com/kenscommentary.

Coming up this month, I am going to participate in a webinar that you are all invited to sign up for at no cost. Please click here for more information about it.

A number of staff and I had the privilege to meet with Matthew Kramer, the President and Chief Program Officer of Teach for America in June. You can see the video of my interview with him by clicking here. This organization has been a 4-star rated charity by us since we began operations! In addition, based on the interview, they appear to be a role model for creating a performance management system whereby they can provide hard data on the outcomes of their work. From what I hear, they are one of the leading agencies in bringing great new talent into the teaching profession and changing the quality of education for many low income kids. What a privilege it was to learn more about this great organization.

All the best,

Ken Berger
