Spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Ridiculous

No one who takes a $400 000 salary is a Christian. Graham and the rest are just some of many pretend Christians that use the Gospel for sinful purposes. They use their ministries to get rich instead of using that money to help the needy like the Bible tells them to. If they were real Christians they'd take the minimum salary necessary for survival and personal Biblical understanding (about 20-30 thousand/year), and give the rest to those who need it like Paul said in 2Corinthians 8:13-15. It's people like Graham that are in the spotlight that should be setting an example for the world, but instead turn people away from the religion with greed and lack of love for those starving or dying of preventable diseases; all while he sits in his mansion with his fancy clothes and cars. If the blind lead the blind, they'll both end up in the ditch. Please, don't anyone be turned off by Christ and Christianity after seeing how Graham and other televangelists live. They're not living Christian lives. Please don't judge the Bible by how some misuse it. Read it for yourself friends.
Salary

When someone accepts a huge salary for preaching the Gospel and performing humanitarian work around the world, he is saying, in effect, "It is more important for me to receive this extra $200,000 or so than for the money to go for Christmas Shoe Boxes, Bibles, literature, food for the hungry, clothing for the poor. Accepting these huge salaries says something about his true values. My wife and I introduced two churches to the Christmas Shoe Box project; last year we filled over 1,200 boxes. But we will NEVER send money to this organization (Samaritan's Purse) or others whose leaders think that they need such salaries to be a "servant" of Christ.
Ignorance

Funny how you can stand in judgement of a paycheck earned, that I'm sure is not in the realm of a 40 hour workweek, yet, corporate America has consistantly earned billions and ripped us off with bogus ads and claims of hardship...wake up America! This ministry is one of the very few that has an extremely long track record of good! Get off your high horses, people...there is nothing anywhere that says you shouldn't be well compensated for a job well done...have you even looked at the whole picture? Yes, there are lots of rip offs out there, but before you spew your ignorance, do real, proper research! Pay attention to how corporate America is ripping you off every day! Shut up, stop being lazy, get out and volunteer, do something for someone besides yourself, sacrifice! It might actually make you realize just how utterly fortunate you are to be an American!
Don't Be So Quick to Judge

Don't be so quick to judge someone for the amount of money they make; or assume that there are other company perks that they utilize on top of their salary. BGEA is doing a lot of work to bring the message of Salvation throughout the world. That takes a lot more than a 40 hour work week to accomplish day after day, year after year. These are "earned" salaries, and we are commanded by scripture to support their work. The overhead for this particular charitable organization is less than 10% - why don't you go take a look at the Red Cross, St. Vincent DePaul, Salvation Army - that should help you to put things in a perspective order. I've been contributing to this organization because of the work that is being accomplished, not based on the salaries that these stewards are earning.
conspicuous consumption

I agree with steve. Any Christian should know that becoming very rich from religion or charities is not Christian. By the way Billy's wages are $365.oo plus all expenses and freebees.
Outstanding!

I think This ministry is doing great work. The poverty mentality that says a laborer is not worth his wages because his labor happens to be to empower people and not create industry is ridiculous. Their job is more important than all the CEO's of every major company in the world. What reasoning is there to not compensate a man fairly who has spent his entire life giving most of what he has to the poor?
His salary is less than 1% of a $200 million dollar organization. Excessive? Are you kidding me?
Compensation scandal

How can Franklin Graham solicit money from others to help the needy when he draws such compensation? Does this include tax free housing allowances; use of automobiles, airplanes, and other forms of compensation? This is a outrageous as the charlatan "prosperity preachers" on TBN. When will there be an expose of this abuse?

Too much salary
Posted by D. Marie | October 27, 2009 6:12:04 AM
I've loved Billy & Ruth thru the years, & they do good work for the Lord, but his salary is excessive at his age. He needs little to live on now, & this is a waste of people's donations. I've given some in the past, & this is disappointing to me. And Franklin definitely gets WAY TOO MUCH! Unless they give most of it back, & what would be the sense of getting it at all?? And they pay no taxes, unlike you & me. Just give to your own church, is the best policy. And yes, I am a born-again Christian & don't think our Christian leaders should live way above the rest of us!!
