From what I can find this group of church people are run by the son who prompts his dead father's stuff. They keep showing videos, TV shows and radio programs edited to make it apopear that the father is still alive and kicking. All inorder to get people to donate to them. It just looks like a scam.

Modest salary might be just spending money

Like his father, HWA, GTA probably had his house, cars, etc. all in the name of the church. With most expenses covered, his modest salary is probably for those things he can't write off on his expense account. This, I suspect, is how he was able to live on such a modest salary, yet live in what I believe to be a gated community. As the late GTA's nemesis, Stanley Rader would say, "It's not how much money you make, it how much you CONTROL." I believe that Stanley Rader always controlled the purse strings of the WCG, while Ted has his title and microphone. The real power, I suspect, was with Rader.
