Financials

Charity Navigator bases its ratings on a limited amount of information, specifically the tax returns filed by the organization (they state on their own website that they only identify the financial health and give tips on giving). This cannot give the full picture on what an organization is doing on a day to day basis. Nor can it identify questionable fundraising tactics that are specified in the story and corroborated by those that PARTICIPATED in them. Although, Charity Navigator is one good source, are you going to base all your information on a website that pulls numbers from a tax return? If you really want a full picture, use CN but also talk to previous employees and any other organziations in the area that have delt with this organization. The previous employees that are called disgruntled never attack the organization, they questioned the tactics of one individual.

Do you beleive everything you read?

So, you are suggesting that a "news" source that SELLS headlines and "exposes" should be beleived before Charity Navigator? Perhaps you should read the article again. The Herald wrote an article based on info given by disgruntled employees and a sour grapes divorced couple. If it's all the same, i'll continue my donations and discontinue my newspaper service. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. You've been very helpful!

Susan Michaels (Executive Director) of Pasado's has been given a raise by her "Board of Directors" (consisting of herself, her best friend from college and a vet. in the area) from $25,000 a year to $120,000 a year. Please read the news articles on this site and make your own educated decision when donating to this organization.

Read the newspaper articles regarding Pasado's Safe Haven in the Everett Herald - heraldnet.com and determine for yourself if you believe this rating should be the basis for deciding whether or not you should give to this organization. Huge amounts of money are raised, but is it going where it should? To the person that said "Excellent Salaries!" you should know that Susan Michaels' new salary is $120,000 per year.

Excellent Salaries!

Thank you to the leadership at Pasado's Safe Haven for taking such low salaries. Too many charities overpay their CEO's and underfund the people/animals they're supposed to be helping. Great job!
