The Shade Tree Shelter is the most amazing shelter I have had the privilege of touring. The feeling in the shelter of love and acceptance is tangible. Marlene Richter is primarily the reason for the positive energy and love in the shelter. If you look at her compensation as opposed to her predecessor and compared to other shelters, you can tell that she certainly doesn't run the shelter for the money...it's because she is the closest thing to an angel on earth I've ever met.

This shelter is a haven for women and children which operates as a positive entity for permanent change for these abused women and children.

The Shade Tree is also one of only six shelters in the nation which also take in pets so that abusers can't use family pets as pawns to get their wives back into an abusive situation.

We need more Marlene Richter's in this world and more shelters like The Shade Tree.
