You can't have just any person running a charity, especially one with millions of dollars in revenue that they are responsible for. Companies with similar revenues or less make millions in compensation.

What is the deal with so many of these non profit charities and CEO making hundreds of thousands of dollars?

I gave to fisher House for the first tiime last year based on what I learned at Charity Navigator. Last year the CEO's salery was $149,030. This year a whopping $350,660! FH still has a 4 star rating but it makes me wonder if I should continue donating to them.

I strongly encourage potential donors to visit a nearby Fisher House. It is uplifting, and will probably make you dig down even deeper into your pocket, or even volunteer your time as well.

Donors should also be aware that the Fisher House Foundation just builds the houses. Once completed, in the case of the Army, they are turned over to Army Fisher Houses (www.armyfisherhouses.org), which actually runs them. That said, the foundation will always forward any donations to a specific house to the organization that runs that house.

Fisher House experience

My husband & I spent several weeks recently at the Fisher House at Ft. Gordon, GA. I can not praise them enough! Our son was seriously wounded and in the Army Medical center a stones throw away. It was so wonderful to come back to the FH every night and decompress, fix some food and rest. I was able to stay for a month and I would not have been able to stay that long if it were not for the Fisher House. Thank you Fisher House!

I also think the salary is high. I'm looking for an effective and efficient charity to help those who have been injured, physically and mentally, by the current wars. DAV charital trust looks good, but if you give to the DAV, their annual report list fundraising expenses of 21.4%

I believe a CEO for a none profit organization should NEVER exceed $250,000. If A CEO wants to make himself rich he should get a job in a for profit organization.

This will not keep me from donating but it is something I wanted the CEO to think about.

I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran and truly love what you are doing for military families. They are always struggling to get by and not given the help from the military that they should.
