The Fistula Foundation

From despair to dignity

Happy with this organization

I first saw Catherine Hamlin, the founder of the Fistula Foundation and hospital,on Oprah. I subsequently researched this organization and made a donation. Dr. Hamlin (and her now deceased husband) have dedicated their lives to helping these poor African women affected by the all too common (in the undeveloped countries) issue of fistula. If anyone is interested in learning more, try to view the documentary entitled "A Walk to Beautiful." I was finally able to see it on PBS. Your donation can literally save a woman's life. As a social worker who sees much charity abuse, I try to be careful where I donate my hard earned money. Although now known worldwide, this is a humble organization who is very appreciative of any help you can provide. They do not badger or continually inundate you with donation requests. Additionsl information can also be found on the Fistual Foundation website.

Is a very good documentary about this hospital and their work. It aired on Nova recently. I believe they are the only hospital in the world specializing in this issue. See if you can find it to learn more.

Does it cover?
