heard the director interviewed on NPR and she sounded smart and compassionate........however compensation seems high for a 6 million $ charity.

compensation

Dear remraf – in response to your posting about the compensation seeming high for a $6M charity, we conduct a thorough analysis when establishing our CEO’s compensation, which is based on GFC’s performance benchmarked against like-minded organizations’ CEO compensation packages, and factoring in Washington DC’s high cost of living. We have an external consultant research ten mission-similar nonprofits – some larger, some smaller than GFC – in order to ensure that the CEO’s compensation falls in the middle of that group both in terms of value and percentage of overall budget.
