I am very concerned about the HUGE % that end up as administrative costs with this organization. I received a slick pamphlet from them. i just don't feel I can split my dollar in half between the needy and the pockets of the staff.

Kids Can Relate to This Charity

Even though Heiffer gets only 3 stars, I think it's a good charity if you want to teach children about charity. If you donate in honor of a child (or anyone), Heiffer will send a very nice foldout card that you can send to the child that shows kids with the animals and explains about the charity.

Ardyth Neill currently serves as acting President and CEO of Heifer Foundation, an international philanthropic foundation established for the primary purpose of building an endowment to generate ongoing support for the work of Heifer International; educating the public on planned charitable giving; and to serve as fiduciary for its donors. Prior to this appointment, Neill served as CFO and Vice President of Finance and Administration for the past eight years at Heifer Foundation and was Director of Accounting at Heifer International for five years prior to joining Heifer Foundation. Neill holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration with minor in Accounting and Economics from Drury University. She is currently a member of numerous organizations, including the Institute of Management Accountants, National Committee on Planned Giving, Central Arkansas Human Resources Association, and serves on the board of Servant Leadership School of Little Rock.
