Goal One: The Primary goal is to operate the C.O.R.E. Leadership Academy, an 18-month workforce academy for female survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse and trauma.

Training and Development are reflected in the annual budget, and is a high priority on multiple levels. Funding in this area serves to provide CORE students, professional staff, and the community opportunities to engage with courses and materials that increase employment opportunities, expand staff capabilities to assist with case management, allow leadership to better understand trends and changes in the field of supporting human trafficking survivors, and provide expertise to the greater community on their crucial role in advocacy work.

Financial Independence- We partner with community builders/retail property owners to create spaces like 'The Find at Riverpark' so CORE students can practice work-therapy skills in trauma-informed environments. Advocacy- We participate in lobbying legislation like Bill AB262, to seek systemic changes in preserving survivors' rights and ensure future opportunities aren't hindered by legal restraints/barriers. Community Collaboration- We rely on community partnerships like the Fresno/Madera Continuum of Care Network and the Trauma-Informed Resiliency Network as well as volunteers from higher education institutions such as Fresno Pacific and Fresno State to help us meet our service deliverables. Education and Prevention- We shifted priorities toward the CORE Academy education model for workforce development, and use our work on Mercy Street outreach to prevent victimization in the first street. Survivor Services- This includes case management/therapy services with our partner support.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
We began the process of listening to the survivors about the challenges and difficulties of failing in the workforce and needing a safe and trauma-informed space to practice skills and manage their triggers while giving them real life opportunity to learn while doing. In our next phase of responding to feedback from our survivors and students, we are also seeking processes to get our CORE Academy accredited and providing scholarships for those who are not ready for workforce reentry and/or have disabilities that inhibit their ability to acquire gainful employment.
