Mission

Merit School of Music provides high-quality music education to students in metropolitan Chicago. Its primary goals are to help young people achieve their full musical potential, to remove economic barriers to participation, and to stimulate personal and educational growth through music. Merit's programs are provided without regard to national origin, race, religious belief, gender or physical handicap. Since our founding in 1979, Merit School of Music has successfully motivated and inspired over 45,000 young people with high-quality music instruction. Our broad-ranging comprehensive curriculum, our sense of community and the standard of excellence set forth by our faculty and students are the three major components of our success.
