Mission

Founded in 1863 by the Society of Jesus, Boston College is one of the oldest Jesuit, Catholic universities in the United States. Boston College confers more than 4,000 degrees annually in more than 50 fields of study through nine schools and colleges. Boston College enrolls 14,623 students and has 679 full-time faculty members. Boston College is committed to maintaining and strengthening the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the University, especially its commitment to integrating intellectual, personal, ethical, and religious formation; and to uniting high academic achievement with service to others.
