Mission

Founded in 1919, Braille Institute is committed to eliminating barriers to a fulfilling life caused by blindness and severe sight loss. Programs include a nationally recognized library serving blind and disabled individuals, a publishing house, child development services, youth programs, low vision rehabilitation services, adult education programs and an ongoing effort to promote Braille literacy throughout the United States. All programs and services are provided free of charge. More than 75,000 people were assisted in 2008.
