Mission

Davidson College is a liberal arts institution founded by Presbyterians in 1837. Its 1,700 students come from almost every state in the nation and nearly 40 foreign countries. A highly selective admission process brings students who are proven scholars and leaders to a close campus community in Davidson, N.C., just 20 minutes north of Charlotte. This historic 450-acre campus is an excellent choice for the student who seeks a vigorous undergraduate education in a residential environment. As a college that welcomes students, faculty, and staff from a variety of nationalities, ethnic groups, and traditions, Davidson values diversity, recognizing the dignity and worth of every person.
