Mission

The Nashville Zoo promotes environmental and species conservation through education and recreation. The zoo maintains exotic animals and educates the public about nature and the plight of endangered species. Approximately 546,429 persons were admitted to the zoo in 2006. The Nashville Zoo is also committed to breeding and research projects to assure survival of vanishing species. From African elephants to Bengal tigers and red pandas, Nashville Zoo provides a home to animals found all over the world. These beautiful creatures can be found in equally beautiful habitats like the new Giraffe Savannah, Alligator Cove, Red River Hog Habitat and many more. The Grassmere Historic House and Farm still stand, providing a glimpse into farm life during the 1880s.
