Mission

Vivisection Investigation League was founded in 1982 by Pegeen Fitzgerald to provide a retirement home for cats at the Last Post Animal Sanctuary; to campaign against hunting, trapping, lab use of animals; and to assist in the worldwide effort to save the tiger, rhino, and bears from extinction due to the mythical beliefs of the Orient. The Last Post addresses the issue of animal welfare, both for domestic animals and wild animals, through its programs. The Last Post operates a 125-acre wildlife preserve in Upstate New York. It also provides homes for abused animals, including dogs, cats, and pigs, as well as a retirement home for cats. One of The Last Post's recent accomplishments was having 125 dogs adopted due to creative ads, and paying for their training at the Canine Academy, in Winsted, CT.
