Mission
Founded in 1977, Dogs for the Deaf (DFD) works to rescue and professionally train dogs to assist people and enhance their lives. DFD maintains a lifelong commitment to all dogs we rescue and all teams we serve. In over 30 years, Dogs for the Deaf has rescued and placed over 3,000 dogs in homes as hearing dogs, Miracle Mutts (special dogs for special people), Harmony's Hounds (dogs with special needs), and career change dogs. In keeping with this tradition, we are proud to announce the start of a pilot Autism Assistance Dog Program. This program will allow us to rescue and train more dogs, specifically more large dogs. Our primary focus, training hearing dogs, will not change as we expand our programs.
