Mission
Since 1958, Greenbelt Alliance has been the San Francisco Bay Area's advocate for open spaces and vibrant places. Our mission is to make the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area a better place to live by protecting the region's greenbelt and improving the livability of its cities and towns. We have worked with local communities and partner groups to help secure long-term protection for more than 1.1 million acres of open space, establish urban growth boundaries around 23 cities and five counties, and endorse the creation of more than 48,000 homes within existing urban areas.
