Mission

The Humane Society of Greater Akron, incorporated in 1968, is dedicated to alleviating animal suffering, preventing and investigating animal cruelty, protecting the welfare of animals and providing quality adoption services. We value companion animals, recognize their contributions to people's lives and promote their humane treatment. We rescue and rehabilitate sick, injured, abused and abandoned animals, and find new homes for them. We investigate reports of animal cruelty in our community. We educate our community about humane pet care. We introduce and maintain companion animals in the lives of people who would benefit by their presence. We aspire to be a humane society with national recognition for operational excellence.
