Mission

The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) is the official charity of the United States Air Force. AFAS promotes the Air Force mission by helping to relieve distress of Air Force members and their families and assisting them to finance their education. Since its creation in 1942, AFAS has helped countless members of the Air Force community. AFAS' three-pronged charter promotes the Air Force mission by providing worldwide emergency assistance to members and their families, sponsoring educational assistance programs, and offering a variety of base community enhancement programs that improve member/family welfare. In 2007, total direct assistance to Air Force members and families totaled $18.7M, helping over 35,000 people.
