Mission
Founded in 1987, New Mexico Environmental Law Center (NMELC) is a public interest law firm that provides free and low-cost legal services on environmental matters throughout New Mexico. NMELC works with clients - often individuals, neighborhood associations, environmental organizations, Tribes and Pueblos - seeking to protect the environment. Our mission is to protect New Mexico's natural environment and communities through legal and policy advocacy and public education. Our attorneys have handled over 100 critical cases in low-income and minority communities fighting pollution and environmental degradation.
