Mission

Founded in 1867, Clarke's mission is to teach deaf and hard of hearing children how to listen and speak, so they may thrive in mainstream schools and succeed in the speaking world. Clarke was the first permanent oral school for the deaf in the United States, and has schools in Northampton and Boston, Massachusetts; New York City; Philadelphia; and Jacksonville, Florida. Clarke impacts the lives of thousands of children and adults annually through our research, curriculum development and through teachers and professionals trained at Clarke. More than 700 children and their families directly benefit each year from our educational and support programs.
