Mission

In 1982, based on a commitment by community leaders to help the increasing number of families requesting food assistance, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank was formed. The Foodbank is a 85,000 square foot warehouse with nearly 4,000 square feet in freezer and cooler space, and 10,000 square feet dedicated to the Product Recovery Center. Grocery items that have been damaged at the retail level are inspected and sorted by trained personnel in our Product Recovery Center. Usable items are then distributed to local hunger centers. In 2007, the Foodbank distributed over 12 million pounds of food and provided meals for over 163,000 people in need in Northeast Ohio.
