Mission

The Heat and Warmth (THAW) Fund is an independent agency that provides low-income individuals and families with emergency energy assistance and advocates for long-term solutions to energy issues. Since its inception in 1986, THAW has provided more than $69.7 million in assistance to more than 124,000 Michigan households, including elderly, unemployed, underemployed, disabled individuals who found themselves in temporary crisis. During the 2007-2008 heating season, THAW distributed more than $10,928,000 in energy assistance to more than 9,000 households.
