Mission
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro St. Louis granted the first wish in 1986 and became a chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 1990. The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Children must be referred to the Foundation and determined to be eligible for a wish between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 by their physician. Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro St. Louis serves 48 counties is eastern Missouri and southern Illinois and has granted over 1,700 wishes to local children.
