Organization Mission
We end homelessness for women and gender diverse individuals by providing safe housing and supportive services centered on wellness, employment, and advocacy.
We envision just, safe communities where every woman and gender diverse individual has a home and is on a path to fulfillment. Founded in 1978 and located in Skid Row, DWC is committed to providing critical services in the most high-need area. We implement all activities through four streams of programming--Day Center, Housing and Supportive Services, Health and Wellness, and Job Readiness and Supportive Employment. Our innovative, holistic, and individualized approach to ending homelessness for women and gender diverse individuals addresses all dimensions of participants' needs. In 2024, we will provide 100,000 meals, 14,000 case management sessions, on-site and community-based housing to over 700 participants, provide primary healthcare services to 340 participants through our on-site Women’s Health Center, provide mental health services to 400 participants, engage 500 participants in educational, vocational, and job readiness services, and ensure that 80 participants are matched to employers to gain bridge and permanent employment to chronically homeless and extremely low-income women and gender diverse individuals.
