New Program Makes Giving Like A Mutual Fund
Charity Navigator, the evaluator of nonprofits, is launching the Beneficiary Voices Fund, a curated list of nonprofits that prioritize beneficiaries’ feedback and input, receiving praise from the people they serve.
The Beneficiary Voices Fund joins seven other Causeway funds, each focused on critical causes and managed by Charity Navigator’s analysts to maximize donor impact. Similar to mutual funds, Causeway funds are curated lists of top-rated, highly effective charities. A key difference is that the money raised goes directly to the charities.
The goal of Causeway was to provide an alternative to individual charities and possibly simplify choice by leveraging an ETF/Mutual Fund-like approach. Donors are able to give, one time or recurring to these Causeways, get quarterly impact reports on how their donations were making a difference. Most issues are fairly straightforward and the list of organizations in each are highly rated by Charity Navigator and addressing the issue from slightly different angles, explained Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator.
