Earth and our efforts to conserve it are far too important to be observed on just one day. We consider all of April, Earth Month, a time to renew our focus on preserving, caring for, and honoring our planet. Earth Day’s importance has become more critical beyond one day.
The Earth Day theme changes each year, with the 2022 theme being Invest in Our Planet.
Fun ways to celebrate Earth Day:
● Walk & Clean: Take some time to get outside and enjoy nature, while also helping the planet. Walk the neighborhood or have a stroll through the park and collect any litter you see. Walking with a friend? Make it a challenge to see who can collect the most!
● Don’t Trash, Recycle: Find a new home for your unwanted clothes, old toys and the like by hosting a neighborhood clothing or toy swap. Reduce waste by finding your unwanted stuff a new home, instead of throwing away old items that would just end up in landfills.
● Nature & Nurture: Invite friends for some outdoor yoga and enjoy a little fresh air while you connect with yourself and nature. Follow those downward dogs with a little digging in the dirt by planting trees and flowers to keep our planet pretty while restoring local habitats. Get creative and host your own unique outdoor event!
You can also help protect the environment by donating to Charity Navigator's Environmental Fund - an expertly curated list of highly rated, US-based nonprofits focused on preserving and protecting the environment and to promote environmental research, conservation, and appreciation.
