Jumpstart

Mission

Jumpstart advances equitable learning outcomes for young children in underserved communities by recruiting and supporting caring adults to deliver high-quality programming to children and drive systems change through teaching, advocacy, and leadership. Jumpstart has successfully recruited and trained Corps Members to deliver our evidence-based curriculum to Pre-K children for 30 years. We are the only organization working at the junction of higher education and ECE and are uniquely positioned to prepare children for life today while also solving long-term staffing issues by training the next generation of ECE teachers. Jumpstart is a proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network.

Goals

1.In FY25, Jumpstart will train 2,200 Corps Members to serve 7,000 students, over 75% live in poverty, by hosting twice-weekly Jumpstart Sessions to enhance students' language, literacy, and social-emotional learning and give Corps Members critical in-classrooms skills to better prepare them for careers related to their Jumpstart service.
2.Jumpstart has recently launched the Accelerated Workforce Development Program (AWP) to help Corps Members bridge their service and ECE careers more strategically, where we work with higher education partners, policymakers, and Pre-K providers to integrate Corps Members’ college curricula, experience in Pre-K classrooms, licensure, first job placement, and career development.
3.Through AWP, advocate for policies that support a strong early childhood workforce, continuing federal efforts and expanding state/local efforts.
