The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
AMDF took advantage of the global communications move to collaborative video platforms, such as Zoom, to develop video programming that addresses aspects of life with AMD that were negatively impacted by the COVID pandemic, in particular, isolation and loss of independence. So far, through our Mind, Body, Spirit Youtube series, we have: debuted a Zoom video yoga class for AMD patients, taught by the nation's first, blind, certified Yoga teacher; debuted Seeing Each Other - A conversation with Dr. Ann Wagner, Board-Certified Clinical Psychologist who is blind, and Eric Ringham, Retired Senior Editor for Minnesota Public Radio News, who talk about healthy relating between someone with low vision and their caregivers, as well as how to handle and embrace the grief of vision loss; and we have filmed (but not yet debuted) a cooking show series that combines AMD nutrition with safety and accessibility accommodations in the kitchen.
