John F. Kennedy Library Foundation
Mission
Founded in 1963, the JFK Library Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that provides financial support, staffing, and creative resources to ensure that the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum remains a vibrant living memorial to our 35th president. Our mission is to inspire public service, civic responsibility, civil rights, scientific discovery, and creative cultural pursuits by promoting the legacy of President Kennedy; and to continually inspire new audiences with his message of optimism, service, and peace.
Vision
The JFK Library Foundation and JFK Library are united in a common mission of furthering the ideals of public service and political participation, and perpetuating President Kennedy's belief that one person can make a difference, and every person should try. President Kennedy's call to service remains one of the most consequential acts of presidential leadership in American history. His simple challenge to "Ask what you can do for your country" forged a new understanding of public service and redefined what it means to be an engaged citizen. Since the dedication of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in 1979, we have worked to reach new generations with his call to give back, pursue peace, stand up for those left out and left behind, and dedicate ourselves to making the world a better place. Now, more than 60 years after Kennedy's administration, these values are more important than ever, and we are committed to sharing them with new audiences for generations to come.
Goals
- 1.Activate emerging leaders: The Foundation seeks to reach, inspire, and activate new audiences to engage with and build on the legacy of President Kennedy as citizens, leaders, and public servants.
- 2.Become a leader in innovative virtual engagement: The Foundation seeks to build on its current digital offerings and create new engagement opportunities for those unable to visit in person.
- 3.To secure the future of the JFK Library Foundation and JFK Library for new generations: The Foundation seeks to raise the funds needed to ensure that our organization and our partner, the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, are able to preserve and maintain the historic treasures and primary source materials that document the Kennedy family, administration, and legacy for generations to come.
