Mission

The Long Island Council on Alcoholism's (LICADD's) mission is to address the addictive climate of our times by providing initial attention and referral services to individuals, families, and children, through intervention, education and professional guidance to overcome the ravages of alcohol and other drug-related problems. This pioneer not-for-profit agency on Long Island has been on a mission to save lives for over 65 years. Our staff is dedicated to helping individuals, families and members of the workplace prevent or recover from alcoholism and/or other drug addictions.

1.To reduce the incidence and severity of adolescent substance use on Long Island through expanded evidence based and evidence supported prevention that enhances the capacity of local school districts.
2.To provide compassionate and critical support to family members across Long Island struggling with the addiction of a loved one through individual and group clinical and peer services.
3.To ensure all clinical, peer, and general staff are trained in evidence-based and evidence supported harm reduction models and to advocate on behalf of, and alongside, our community.
