Mission

HANAC’s mission is to empower New Yorkers—especially seniors, youth, and families—to live with dignity, stability, and opportunity through compassionate, culturally grounded human services. Rooted in our Greek heritage of honoring elders and strengthening community, we provide affordable housing, education, workforce development, health and social supports that foster independence and belonging. Guided by empathy and innovation, we work to build resilient, sustainable neighborhoods where all can thrive.

Vision

HANAC, Inc. is a nonprofit human services organization founded in 1972 to support the social and economic needs of New York City’s immigrant and underserved communities. Rooted in values of dignity, compassion, and respect, HANAC serves more than 30,000 seniors, youth, and families each year through affordable senior housing, senior centers, youth education and employment programs, family support services, and workforce development. A pioneer in affordable senior housing, HANAC operates and develops hundreds of residential units, including housing for formerly homeless seniors. The organization is also a leader in environmental sustainability, integrating green building practices, renewable energy, and community-based environmental initiatives across its programs.
