Vision

In our envisioned future mental illness will no longer thwart a person’s fulfillment of his or her potential. With early pinpoint diagnoses, interventions and targeted medications and services there is no pervasive disability. Ultimately, we envision a day when prevention or a cure is found.

Goals

1. 1.Ensure equitable access to mental health education and support for marginalized and underserved populations, including communities of color, immigrant families, and non-English-speaking residents. Expand Sharing Hope and FaithNet programs tailored to specific cultural and faith-based communities. Build partnerships with local schools, houses of worship, and community centers
2. 2.Address social isolation among individuals living with mental health conditions by offering more frequent, accessible opportunities for connection. Key Actions: Grow the UNITES program geographically and virtually. Introduce themed social events, creative arts workshops, and peer-led meetups. Partner with local libraries, recreational centers, and parks to host inclusive community gatherings.
3. 3.Advance equitable, person-centered mental health policies by empowering local voices, influencing legislation, and improving crisis response systems across Queens and Nassau counties. Train community members—including peers and families—to become effective advocates through workshops and campaigns. Launch culturally responsive advocacy initiatives to address barriers faced.
